Our Corporate Responsibility Initiatives
Ethical Trading
We’re proud to be part of the Ethical Trading Initiative
Simply Be makes sure that looking our best doesn’t come at the expense of others. So we’re members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), which looks out for those who make our clothes and helps improve their working conditions, wherever they are in the world.
Our Code of Conduct sets out the core principles that our suppliers must follow to ensure that our products are made in safe working conditions and the people that make them are treated fairly and paid a fair wage, wherever they are based in the world.
It is based on the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code https://www.ethicaltrade.org/eti-base-code, which is founded on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation, which sets worldwide standards of labour practice.
We are proud to be members of the Ethical Trading Initiative, which is a ground breaking alliance of retailers, suppliers, trade unions and voluntary organisations. We all work together to improve the working lives of people all over the world.
Our Code of Conduct states:
- Employment is freely chosen
- Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected
- Working conditions are safe and hygienic
- Child labour shall not be used
- Living wages are paid
- Working hours are not excessive
- No discrimination is practised
- Regular employment is provided
- No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed
We regularly check our suppliers by using certified audit companies as well as using internal resource. We recognise that we have a responsibility to act ethically from wherever we source in the world.
We are currently working on a number of projects together with other retailers on key supply chains around the world. These include garments from Bangladesh, toys from China, furniture from Vietnam and garments from Southern India.
